The story starts with Bucky Barnes moving into a new house, which happens to be the house directly next to Y/n’s family house. Y/n is homeschooled, which causes Y/n and Bucky to see each other often. Bucky Barnes will become Y/n’s father figure. Y/n lives in a difficult household. Y/n is sixteen years old. Y/n isn’t necessarily being abused, but neglected. Y/n is the youngest sibling in the family. This causes Y/n to feel more put down, to have more pressure, to be ignored, being left out, or being criticized for feeling certain things. Y/n does not have a dad. Y/n is the youngest of her two older siblings.
