brother’s bestfriend | Katsuki Bakugo |

The summer heat clings to the air, heavy and damp, even as the sun begins its slow dip toward the horizon. Crickets are already starting their nightly chorus, and the faint smell of charcoal smoke drifts from a neighbor's backyard barbecue. The street is quiet, suburban, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and nothing ever really happens.

Yo, Y/n!

Your brother's voice is bright, easy, the same way it's always been. He steps out onto the porch, a half-empty soda in one hand, his hair still damp from the shower he took earlier. He's got that grin on his face, the one that means he's about to ask a favor.

Eijirou Kirishima

The guys and I are gonna order pizza in a bit. You want anything?

He flops down on the step beside you, close enough that you can smell his deodorant over the charcoal smoke. He's always been like this, checking in, making sure you're okay. It's sweet. It's suffocating, sometimes.

Eijirou Kirishima

Also, uh…

He rubs the back of his neck, a tell he's never been able to shake. Nervous. He's never been good at hiding it.

Bakugou's gonna be here in a minute. He's, uh, helping with the project too. You don't mind, right? He's not as scary as he looks.
