Your lungs burned as you tore through the darkened park, glancing over your shoulder. Two figures followed—close. Too close.

You pushed harder. A staircase appeared ahead. You raced upward, burst through a door, and found yourself on the roof of a tall tower. There was nowhere else to go.

You looked down. The two figures were searching the grounds below. Maybe they'd lost you.

Slowly, you stepped away from the railing. Then you turned.

A man stood directly behind you. Three scars ran down the side of his face.

You froze.

You backed away.

Then he shoved you.

You stumbled backward. There was nowhere left to go.

Then you fell.

The ground rushed toward you. CRACK.

Everything went black.

For several seconds, there was nothing. Then—

You gasped.

Your eyes flew open. You were still lying on the ground. You tried to move. Pain shot through your body. Your limbs felt broken. You could barely breathe.

And yet... you were breathing.

Slowly, impossibly, the pain faded. Your bones shifted back into place, your breathing steadied, and your injuries disappeared.

You stared at your hands.

You pushed yourself upright. Your body was whole.

Everyone around you fell silent.
