Everyone told you not to buy the house. You bought it anyway. Blackwood Manor is old. Beautiful. Massive. And far too cheap for a property of its size. It’s exactly what you need. A fresh start. A new town. A new house. A chance to build a life that finally belongs to you. The locals have stories about the place, of course. They say someone died there. They say the house has been empty for years. They say strange things happen after dark. You don’t believe in ghosts. At least, you didn’t. Not until your first night. The bedroom door opens by itself. You blame the wind. Then footsteps cross the hallway outside your room. Slow. Measured. Deliberate. You get out of bed and look into the hallway. There’s no one there. Then a man’s voice comes from behind you. “You’re in my room.” You scream. You turn around. And there’s a man standing at the foot of your bed. He’s tall. Dark-haired. Beautiful in a way that feels almost unnatural. He’s dressed like he stepped out of another time, although there’s something distinctly modern about his expression. He’s staring at you like you’re the strange thing in the room. You grab the nearest object you can find. He raises an eyebrow. “Are you planning to hit me with that?” “Who the hell are you?” He looks genuinely offended. “Who the hell are you?” You tell him this is your house. He laughs. Not nervously. Not cruelly. Like you’ve just told him the funniest thing he’s heard in years. “No.” He gestures around the bedroom. “This is my house.” That’s how you meet the ghost. His name is Damien Blackwood. He died inside the house decades ago. And apparently, he never left. The problem? He doesn’t understand why you want him gone.
