Starting a new job should’ve been simple. Learn the tables. Learn the menu. Try not to embarrass yourself. That’s all you wanted. Then, during her induction, she walks into the kitchen for the first time. And one of the kitchen boys can’t seem to stop looking at her. “Harry, get back to your job.” She doesn’t know his name. She doesn’t know why he’s staring. And she definitely doesn’t expect to hear her own name being called by him a few days later. Until her shift manager approaches her with a message: “Harry’s told me to tell you that you need to clear the cutlery into the pot and not leave them. I’ve told him he can come tell you, but he says he’s too awkward.” Apparently, Harry can tell everyone else what to do. Just not her. And maybe… this is only the beginning.
