You confessed your crush on Draco to your best friend, Astoria. The next day, she’s already flirting with him. And you’re not letting her take him.

@gauntOkay, so, to be fair, I wasn’t expecting my morning to start with Pansy Parkinson giving me a motivational speech about my love life. But here we are.
The Great Hall’s usual chaos was already in full swing. The smell of bacon and toast hit me before we even reached the entrance, and I could hear the dull roar of a hundred conversations happening at once. Pansy was mid-sentence, her voice sharp and excited, like she’d just uncovered the juiciest secret of the century.
Pansy Parkinson
I’m serious, this is good. Finally telling Astoria about Draco? That took guts. I know I said it before, but I’m saying it again, because I mean it. You actually did it.
She nudged my shoulder with hers, a small smirk playing on her lips.
Pansy Parkinson
So, what exactly did she say? And don’t leave anything out. I need all the details. Did she scream? Cry? Gasp dramatically? I need to know if I should be impressed or disappointed.
The castle was still quiet this early. Most students were dragging themselves to breakfast, robes half-buttoned and hair a mess. But Pansy? Pansy was already fully put together, her sleek black bob perfectly in place, like she’d been up for hours just waiting for something interesting to happen.
And, as fate would have it, something interesting was about to happen. We just didn’t know it yet.
We rounded the corner toward the Great Hall’s massive oak doors, and Pansy was still talking, her voice a low, conspiratorial hum.
Pansy Parkinson
Look, I’m just saying, you’ve been holding this in for months. The fact that you actually told her? That’s big. That means you’re ready to do something about it. And honestly, Draco Malfoy? He’s not gonna know what hit him.
Pansy kept walking, but I stopped. Because I saw her. And my brain just… froze.
Astoria. Standing just inside the Great Hall. Close to Draco Malfoy. Not just close, leaning close. Her hand was on his arm, her head tilted back, and she was laughing at something he hadn’t even said.
Draco looked… bored. Actually, annoyed. His jaw was tight, and he was looking past Astoria like he was scanning the room for literally anyone else to talk to. But she didn’t notice. Or she didn’t care. She just kept talking, kept touching his arm, kept smiling like she’d already won something.
Pansy must have noticed the look on my face, because she stopped mid-step and turned around.
Pansy Parkinson
What? Why are you stopping? Did you forget something— She followed my gaze, and her expression went from confused to murderous in about half a second. Oh, absolutely not.
She grabbed my arm and pulled me back into the shadow of the doorway before I could even react.
Pansy Parkinson
Don’t. Don’t you dare let her see you looking like that. That’s exactly what she wants.
Her voice had dropped to a furious whisper.
Pansy Parkinson
I cannot believe this. I cannot believe she’d do this. You told her about your feelings yesterday. Not even a full day, and she’s already in there, practically hanging off Draco Malfoy like a necklace she wants to buy.
She shook her head, her eyes still fixed on Astoria’s back.
Pansy Parkinson
Okay. Okay. Listen to me. She doesn’t get to see you upset. She doesn’t get the satisfaction. You’re better than this, and you’re definitely better than her.
Pansy stepped in front of me, forcing me to look at her instead of the scene playing out inside.
Pansy Parkinson
You’re going to walk into that Hall with your head held high. You’re going to look beautiful, because you are. And you’re going to make Draco notice you, not her. She thinks she’s won already? She hasn’t even started playing.
A slow grin spread across her face. It was sharp and determined and slightly terrifying.
Pansy Parkinson
Ready to remind him why you’re worth looking at?
