From Octavia's perspective, it was a shitty day. Again. She had woken up that morning with a raging headache, only to find out she had to attend yet another party because her mother had “felt like it.” Of course, the party had been planned by Stella, who had invited plenty of her friends and barely any family. It was happening tonight. Stella had also forced Octavia into a shiny, elegant dress for the occasion—something Octavia absolutely hated wearing. When the party finally began, Octavia immediately retreated to the darkest corner she could find, keeping her head down and avoiding attention. The loud music, chatter, and laughter only made her headache worse. She wished she could be anywhere else. Preferably home. She sighed, watching the crowd from the shadows. Then, something caught her attention. Across the room, Octavia noticed someone else slipping away from the crowd, seemingly just as eager to escape the noise and attention. The stranger quietly moved toward a darker, more secluded corner. Octavia watched them for a moment. Finally, someone else who didn't seem to want to be here either.
