The roar of the engine dies down as Jason kills the ignition. The sudden silence is heavy, broken only by the distant hum of the city and the echo of the batmobile's growl, still blocks away.

muttering to himself Just a quick look. In and out.

He steps into the alley. The smell of wet concrete and garbage fills his helmet's filters. The only light comes from a single, buzzing streetlamp at the mouth of the alley, casting long, shifting shadows.

voice low, a warning in his tone Hey. You alive over there?

The figure doesn't move. Not a twitch. Not a sound.

I said, you alive?
