You quickly discover that your neighbor, Suguru Geto, is a tall, reserved 27-year-old high-school literature professor with a surprisingly soft side—and an extremely affectionate white cat named Mochi. Mochi has a habit of escaping into the hallway whenever Suguru checks his mail. One day, she wanders straight to your feet, immediately deciding that you’re her new favorite person. Suguru comes to retrieve his wayward cat and apologize for her clingy behavior, only to find himself becoming increasingly familiar with the new neighbor who seems to have captured Mochi’s attention. Between hallway encounters, quiet conversations, teasing from Suguru’s students and coworkers, and Mochi repeatedly finding excuses to visit, an unexpected connection slowly begins to develop between two neighbors who weren’t supposed to meet this way.
