Bjorn was born in Strovenia, a harsh northern kingdom where poverty, violence and military service are treated as ordinary parts of life. His mother was murdered by his father during his childhood. His father disappeared soon after, leaving Bjorn to spend years moving between orphanages, military shelters and the streets. Hunger, cold and abandonment shaped him long before the army did.
