The air in the Potions classroom was thick with the scent of crushed asphodel and simmering wormwood. Professor Slughorn bustled between the worktables, his voice a cheerful drone over the gentle bubbling of cauldrons.

okay, so today in potions class, we brew it. amortentia. when class is dismissed, i’ll ‘accidentally’ bump into him, drop the vial… poof. he breathes it in.

Her voice was tight, pitched low. Across from her, Aurelia Greengrass didn’t look up from her own textbook. She was examining her perfectly manicured nails with detached interest.

Astoria smirked, a quick, practiced flash of teeth. Her gaze drifted past Aurelia, landing on you, Y/n, seated a few tables away with your own partner. She watched for a second too long before looking back to her sister.
