The dungeons of Hogwarts were thick with steam, the air heavy with the acrid tang of crushed ingredients. Professor Slughorn bustled between cauldrons, his voice a cheerful drone over the simmering pots.

Amortentia, the most powerful love potion in the world. Distinctive. Pearlescent. And, most importantly, the smell differs for each person. It draws you in, you see, to what you most desire.

The class leaned in. Pansy hooked her chin over your shoulder, breathing the steam from your cauldron.

whispers What d'you smell, Y/n?

Slughorn clapped his hands together.

Mr. Malfoy! Stand up, stand up. Tell us, what does the Amortentia smell like to you?

Draco Malfoy rose slowly, his grey eyes fixed on the swirling surface. He breathed in. Once. Twice. His jaw tightened.

Draco Malfoy

He paused. His gaze drifted—almost unconsciously—toward you. The steam curled, soft and inviting.

Draco Malfoy

I can't smell anything.

Horace Slughorn

frowning Nothing at all? How peculiar.

Draco Malfoy

quietly, almost to himself Apart from... her perfume.

Silence. A heavy, suffocating silence that sucked the steam from the air.

Pansy Parkinson

eyes snapping wide Did he just say... Y/n's perfume?

Blaise lowered his stirring rod. Daphne's quill froze mid-sentence. Enzo's mouth parted in a perfect, silent O.
