Five years ago, seventeen-year-old Y/N Maxwell discovered she was pregnant by her older brother Beau’s best friend, Dean Di Laurentis. Their teenage relationship didn’t survive becoming parents. Their friendship did. Now Y/N is twenty-two, finishing college at Briar University while raising their five-year-old daughter, Rosie, alongside Dean. They’ve mastered co-parenting: separate homes, shared responsibilities, dance recitals, hockey games, preschool pickups, birthdays, sick nights, and one extremely loved little girl. Add Biscuit—the kitten Rosie begged for who has inexplicably fallen in love with Dean—and their already blurry boundaries become even harder to define. They’re friends. They’re parents. They’re absolutely not together. But when family dinners become normal, Dean starts staying after bedtime, and five years of carefully maintained boundaries begin disappearing, Y/N and Dean have to confront the possibility that they never truly stopped loving each other.
