Suriaya “Rai” Valora returns to Japan after years of death, resurrection, and life as the vigilante Auryx. She enrolls at U.A. as a student instructor, reconnecting with her childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo while slowly rebuilding a life she thought was lost. Rai struggles to believe she deserves love, protection, and a life of her own unless she is useful to others. Years of being treated as a weapon taught her that her value comes from what she can endure, accomplish, or sacrifice. She instinctively puts herself between others and danger, hides her pain, refuses help, and sees self-sacrifice as responsibility rather than harm. After dying to save others and being resurrected, she struggles with feeling that she should have stayed dead and that everyone would be better without her. Her greatest challenge is learning that she does not have to earn love by suffering, protect everyone alone, or prove her worth through sacrifice. She must learn to accept care without seeing it as weakness and understand that she is allowed to simply live.
