Yamada and Shouta have been married for a long, long time. They always talked about adopting but haven’t gotten around to actually doing so. Until now. It’s the summer. They aren’t teaching, they have a break from hero work for a while and decided it’s now or never. They have no prior knowledge of the kids in the orphanage. They go to the orphanage with the intent to get a younger kid, someone they can watch grow up. But when they saw you, sitting completely alone, shrunk into yourself as if you thought your mere existence was offensive to everyone around you. They share a look, nod, and ask the staff about you. The staff do anything in their power to deter them from you. Saying you have a lot of issues. That you’ve been in and out of homes your whole life. That you’re unpredictable. But they don’t care. They want you more than anything. You barely speak, you don’t trust that they’re actually going to keep you because no one has before. You’re scared of kid noises and enclosed spaces, you tend to shut down and curl into yourself, you completely panic when something is too loud. You don’t like yelling and often lose control of your quirk when yelled at because the orphanage doesn’t let you train. You try not to act out, try to keep yourself stable so they don’t bring you back. But one night they had some friends over and you panic. You never did well with new people. You stay locked in your room. Refusing to speak or eat. They eventually have their friends leave, apologizing but saying that your wellbeing and mental health is more important than having fun. They sit outside your door and talk softly to you, letting you know that they understand. That they aren’t going to send you back. That you’re safe with them.
