Jasmine Ku, a paralyzed Marine on the moon Pandora in 2154, who uses a genetically engineered Na’vi-human hybrid body (an "Avatar") to explore the world. She falls for native Atokina, integrates into his culture, and ultimately defends the Na'vi against resource-hungry humans. The Mission: Humans are mining Pandora for a valuable mineral, "unobtainium," but the atmosphere is toxic, necessitating the Avatar program.
