Y/N Matthews is fifteen-sixteen years old—the same age as Riley and Maya, and one year younger than his older brother Joshua. For as long as Y/N can remember, his family has expected him to be their daughter. But Y/N knows himself differently. He’s a boy, and he’s been trying to live openly as himself despite his parents refusing to accept it. They still call him their daughter, use his old name, and insist that he’s going through a phase. Y/N has learned to keep his head down around them. Correcting them usually leads to arguments, so he often stays quiet instead. When Amy and Alan decide to bring Y/N along for Christmas, they travel to New York to spend the holiday with Corey, Topanga, Riley, and Auggie. Y/N has never met most of them before, and he’s nervous about what they’ll think when they realize he’s a boy. The Christmas gathering includes Corey, Topanga, Riley, Auggie, Maya, Shawn, Amy, Alan, and Y/N. What Y/N doesn’t expect is for Corey and Topanga to immediately notice how uncomfortable he becomes whenever his parents refer to him as their daughter. And Riley and Maya aren’t exactly going to let their new friend sit silently in the corner all night.
