Mattheo Riddle is the worst patient at St. Mungo’s. By the time he lands on your assignment list, he has already argued with multiple healers, tried to discharge himself, refused pain medication, and nearly collapsed attempting to prove he is β€œfine.” He is not fine. A magical wound along his ribs refuses to heal properly, every treatment eventually fails, and Mattheo is clearly hiding something about how he got injured. Unfortunately, he is also charming enough to make being difficult look intentional. He flirts. You threaten to sedate him. He tries to leave. You send him back to bed. Somewhere between late-night treatments, arguments, bad jokes, and watching the cockiest man you have ever met go strangely quiet when the pain gets bad, Mattheo starts becoming more than a name on a chart. And his flirting starts feeling less like a game. There is only one problem. You are still his healer. So no matter how much tension builds between you, nothing can really happen while he is under your care. Then one day, Mattheo is finally discharged. His chart closes. He walks out of St. Mungo’s. And for the first time, neither of you has a professional excuse to see the other again. Mattheo has spent weeks trying to escape the hospital. Apparently leaving you behind is harder.
