Y/N Stark and Bucky Barnes are sworn enemies until missions, arguments, jealousy, and one too many close calls start blurring the line between hatred and something neither of them is ready to admit. ⛧°。 ⋆༺♱༻⋆。 °⛧ Y/N Stark and Bucky Barnes have never gotten along. Ever. She thinks he’s a grumpy, controlling asshole. He thinks she’s a reckless, stubborn pain in the ass. They argue over everything, compete constantly, and somehow always manage to get under each other’s skin. So naturally, Tony decides they should start working together. What begins as forced teamwork quickly becomes something neither of them understands. Bucky starts noticing when Y/N is missing from meetings, when she’s unusually quiet, or when she’s putting herself in danger. Y/N starts noticing the little things about him too, the way he withdraws when something is wrong, the moments when his walls crack, and the rare softness he refuses to show anyone else. Neither of them wants to admit they care. After all, they hate each other. At least, that’s what they keep telling themselves. Between dangerous missions, late-night arguments, jealousy, accidental vulnerability, and far too much forced proximity, the line between hatred and something else slowly begins to disappear. And Bucky is starting to realize that maybe the person who annoys him most is also the person he’d tear the world apart to protect. “Don’t make me come looking for you, Stark.” y/n rolls her eyes. Neither of them realizes yet just how much that sentence is going to mean.
