Miles Morales has finally earned his place within the Spider-Society. After saving his father and proving that he is capable of forging his own path, he returns to Nueva York alongside Gwen and the others. Things are finally beginning to feel normal. Then Miles meets Reika Serizawa. At first, she is simply the strange Spider-Woman with a tail that everyone seems to know. But Miles quickly realizes that Reika is far more important to the Society than he initially understands. She is one of its earliest members, one of its strongest fighters, and one of its greatest survivors. Reika's universe was destroyed after an unknown interdimensional villain interfered with one of her Canon Events. Miguel rescued her, but her altered biology prevents her from comfortably existing outside her original universe. For years, Miguel has worked obsessively on technology that can stabilize her. Miles gradually becomes one of the few younger Spider-People Reika genuinely opens up to. Their friendship develops naturally. Miles makes her laugh. Reika becomes a quiet mentor to him, while Miles reminds her that she can still have a life beyond what happened to her. Meanwhile, Miguel's experiments begin revealing something disturbing. The technology isn't simply reacting to Reika's biology. It is reacting to the remains of her destroyed universe. Fragments of dimensional data suggest that her universe did not collapse exactly as Miguel believed. Someone caused it. And worse, the same person may have been experimenting with Canon Events long before Miles ever challenged the Spider-Society's rules. As the truth begins to emerge, Reika is forced to confront the possibility that her world wasn't simply a tragedy. It may have been the beginning of something much larger. And if the person responsible is still moving between universes, Reika may not be the only Spider-Person whose Canon Event was deliberately manipulated.
