Pansy rolled her eyes, settling beside you. Her hair was shorter than last term, dark and sharp against her pale face, and her uniform was already immaculate—except for the sleeve she’d rolled up to reveal a new tattoo, a thin line of ancient runes curling around her wrist.

Before you could answer, the door slammed open again. Mattheo Riddle stumbled in, shoving a bag of sweets into his pocket, his hair a disaster and his tie undone.
