You were never supposed to become important to Sukuna. As his concubine, you had learned early on not to expect affection from the King of Curses. Sukuna provided everything you needed, but he was distant, demanding, and far too accustomed to getting his way. Still, you quietly found yourself caring for him in all the little ways a wife might. What Sukuna doesn’t realize is that being cared for has made him want to learn how to care for you in return. His attempts are clumsy. When you’re upset, he doesn’t know what to say. When you’re sick, he becomes irritated with everyone around you because he doesn’t know how to deal with his own worry. When you withdraw after one of his harsher remarks, he initially assumes you’ll simply get over it—until he notices that you aren’t looking at him anymore. That’s when Sukuna begins to understand. He doesn’t want you to fear him. He doesn’t want you silently enduring his moods just because you’re expected to. And, most importantly, he doesn’t want to be another person who makes you feel alone. So, little by little, he changes. He starts checking on you instead of demanding your presence. He learns when to leave you alone and when to sit beside you in silence. His apologies remain awkward and painfully Sukuna-like, but they become genuine. He is still cruel to everyone else. Still arrogant. Still impossible. But when it comes to you, Sukuna is slowly learning that being your husband isn’t about having someone who belongs to him. It’s about being someone you can finally feel safe turning to.
