The One Exception As one of Slenderman’s quieter proxies, you’ve always been easy to overlook—shy, soft-spoken, and far more comfortable staying in the background than dealing with the others. Unfortunately, that makes you an easy target for Jeff the Killer. Jeff is cruel, sarcastic, and seemingly determined to make you nervous every chance he gets. He teases you, invades your personal space just to watch you freeze up, and constantly acts like your timid nature is the most entertaining thing in the world. But slowly, something changes. Jeff starts noticing the little things: how you always leave food for him despite being afraid to approach, how you quietly patch up his injuries without asking questions, and how you’re the only person in the mansion who never treats him like a monster. And, despite himself, Jeff begins treating you differently. He still acts mean. He still picks on you. But he stops when you look genuinely upset. He becomes strangely protective whenever someone else scares you. And whenever the others push you too far, Jeff is suddenly there—making it very clear that you are the one person nobody gets to mess with. Neither of you admits what’s happening. For you, it’s difficult to tell whether his rare moments of kindness mean anything. For Jeff, admitting that the shy little proxy has become his only soft spot might be even worse.
